In the Human/Technology relationship, we have passed the point where the human was being served by technology — we are now at the point where technology OWNS US.
Through the endless behavioural changes that have compounded over the years in our brains (i.e. us, the users of technology) — we have lost the ability to do anything without it.
Technology now tells us what to think, what to say and what to feel. We have lost the ability to communicate, to relate and to empathise.
Superficiality is now the norm. Socialising exists at a digital level, but is seriously lacking in the real world.
Deep understanding and communication has been on a steady decline for years, and it has consequences… Rather than tough times creating people with strong mindsets, the feedback loop has now been short-circuited by digital distractions.
INTERNET > REALITY
There was a time when the internet complemented life — now it has substituted it.
Why think and problem solve when you can just Google the answer?
Why learn a skill when AI can do it for you?
Why engage in real life when the internet is easier and pain free?
This self entitled approach to life is making us weak and dumb. No effort, no striving and no pain, just the fundamental belief that we exist to be served. The struggle is no longer deified, but mocked….
But without the struggle, there is no fulfilment.
Do you want to be shaped by real-world influences or some Big Tech behaviour modification engine with the only objective to increase their engagement metrics and cash generation?
“If you don’t pay for the product, you are the product.”
EMBRACE THE PAIN
Through behaviour modification and brain chemistry changes — humans have been programmed to avoid natural rewards from the real world in favour of digital rewards from within the matrix (i.e. the internet).
This has resulted in a dopamine addiction, conditioning our brains to crave the hyper-stimulating effects of smartphone screens, social networks and other addictive technologies.
And in this feedback loop of DOOM — the self is the first casualty.
As technology imposes on our natural way of life, the self is forced to retreat.
But then, the self withdraws even further by choice — as human relationships deteriorate and the internet becomes more exciting than life.
At that point technology dominates the human entirely resulting in him…
Losing his focus, motivation and the powers and sharpness of his cognitive abilities.
That is where creation dies.
The Death of Creation
In this JRE interview with Michael Easter — they discuss the importance of BOREDOM as an ingredient to creativity.
But the internet never lets you get bored — these companies want your full attention to make more money off you. So when will you ever get bored?
…and if you never get bored, how will you ever create?
We have become pain-avoiding animals to the point of detriment — simply because the internet and screen/dopamine addiction has hijacked our brains to do their bidding.
If you don’t reverse this process, and start at once — you will never create anything of value. You will never achieve fulfilment.
